Fun piece Mike!

I remember another piece you posted a month or so ago and had that reporter with the mic in it and it just didn't work or fit.  In this case starting off with him in that wooden cutout with arm and mic going through the other cut out was classic.  Set me knowing this was going to be a fun piece and that's the way you shot and edited it.

Don't think I needed to see that reporter a second time for that sit down interview with Phil.

Liked your shooting from the angles to the details. The audio was good too.

Liked you had b-roll and details of people having breakfast with lots of seating around them while Phil talked about not use to being up this early.  Wonder besides the details of pancakes and sausage what else there way visually to indicate morning time?  What time did he arrive? Did you think about starting the early morning with him maybe he was so groggy, etc loading up his car with gear, lugging it around to his spot etc?

At the 1:24 mark perhaps have the music trail off a bit before that woman comes in then bring it back up afterwards. The music was a bit to loud over her.

You show him singing so much I would of also like to have seen a wider view of what he is looking out upon that early in the morning like something shot from behind that wooden fence post he is in front of and just let it roll.

Nice job on the slice of life feature at the state fair.

To me you hit it all and there's no need for me to talk about your focus, storytelling, probing questions etc in a piece like this.  It is what it is and it is a good piece.  You have a nice style to your work and tend to find stories that make people smile.  Thanks!
