I love the creative approach you took toward covering a complicated issue. The problem, I think, is that you didn't go far enough in simplifying the story. This could have a been a massive documentary project where you interviewed government officials, food producers, and the poor people affected by the problems. Instead you took a faster, simpler, more artistic approach, which can often be a good thing.
I think the artwork and stop-motion style is attention getting, but I still got very bogged down in numbers and acronyms. In the end, while I enjoyed the artistry, I'm not sure I had a much better understanding of the issue. If your intended audience is a broad one, then assume they don't know anything about the issue and explain as simply as possible.
If you're looking for inspiration for this sort of piece, check out Casey Neistat: He does some nice opinion-type pieces (not exactly journalism) mixing in artwork and stop-motion with video footage.

first off thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate the way you've looked at this, and hope to be able to incorporate some of the stuff you're saying in my next piece. I think you make an important point in asking me to simplify the issue and break it down to the core. That is one aspect I definitely want to work and spend more time on.
